How to remove a Car Bulb
Remove the bulb and look at it against the sky you may be able to see whether the filament has broken.
If you cannot tell, test it with a length of insulated wire. Hold one end of the wire to one battery terminal and the other end to the metal body of the
bulb. Touch the base terminal of the bulb to the other battery terminal (fig 1). If the bulb does not light you will have to renew it.

Car Bulb Types
There are four types of bulb commonly used in car liights. Your car may use a different type of light fixing in the sidelights and number plate light, for instance. Some bulbs screw into the bulb holder and can be removed by turning them anticlockwise. The capless type of bulb is a push fit in the bulb holder.
To take it out, do not try to turn the bulb but just pull it. The bayonet type can be taken out by pushing it in slightly and then turning it anticlockwise. Spring pressure win then push the bulb outwards. Festoon Bulbs are tubular in shap with pointed ends and are held in the bulb holder by a spring clip at each end to take out a festoon bulb pull one spring clip genterly away from that end then ease the bulb in the other direction eith your other hand.
Whatever the type there wil be two contacts or terminals,one will be live the other earth .it is usually clear which is which, with festoon bulbs the earth is the terminal connected to the metal holder,while a bayonet & srew bulbs are earthe threw there metal casing
